The creatively titled “NW-E013″ usb stick music player, bears a more than a passing resemblance to apples OLD shuffle. The one they ditched a while back.
Released here in Japan a few days ago, Sony believes this latest walkman (with an LCD readout and 1gb capacity) will make the connection between downloads and it’s bespoke mp3 / internet HI-FI unit more seamless.
As you can see it would only be a matter of time before that thing gets ripped out of the HI-FI by an inattentive child or adult, destroying the usb slot and possibly the walkman in the process.
Features abound. The LCD readout is colour, and even sports a mode to browse music by CD cover.
…
Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t work on mac osx.

Even since a child in my Geography class, I thought something was up so I raised it with my teacher “Mr Hankins”. I must have been about 13 years old.
Science has a habit of holding onto ideas that just don’t make sense. I think this is a perfect candidate for letting go. It also neatly explains how dinosaurs got so big, combining a smaller earth with less gravity would easily let them swell to gargantuan sizes. (although this is not mentioned in the video.)
I’m in the process of remaking my website, for he Nth time, following the E2R doctrine. Many thanks to Anatole for his help in importing all my old diary entries! The kind chap wrote a small PHP script to help me convert my old blog (started in 1999) to an RSS XML document. Needless to say that old data was a jumbled up mess, but I am now privy to some very powerful and interesting PHP
Also, unfortunately I have my 7 diary entries from March 2005 to March 2006. In summery I think all I wrote about was coming to live in Japan & buying various Wacom tablets anyway. Kinda boring! (hence the header image) I must change my matter of fact writing style, too many sentences starting with “I”.
Over the next few weeks I shall be importing my hundreds of gallery / work-history pages into wordpress as diary entries with custom pages. Now that I have learnt the ins and outs of wordpress, it seems anything is possible! The future of dadako.com is here, however at the moment it is fading in and out of view. Expect a clear image on the new year.

After reading a friend of mines blog and wholeheartedly disagreeing that my blog actually needs to be readable, I have finally bitten the bullet and adopted the 100% text size mandate.
The idea is, text on the web should be readable. Have a peek at his site for more information, and other usability ramblings.
100% E2R

I keep getting spam posted to my blog entries, some of it incoherent, others links to random products or porn sites. I have comments on my blog set to moderation accept for pre approved posters, so it’s not a fantastic problem because I can delete it very easily, just I wonder why they do it and does anyone else get spam comments? I wonder if it’s totally automated or if someone actually sits down and spams peoples blogs by hand.
Blog spam, what will the bastards think of next?

Today, waking up on my sofa realising I left my computer on all night, I noticed that my trusty backup USB drive wasn’t working. This drive has been with me through thick and thin for about 3 years, I’ve taken to Japan 4 times!
Also this drive holds my entire working life. And now it seems, all my work has gone.
The list of things on there is too great to detail, but I recently migrated all the movies etc off it to another drive, leaving it purely for work. I even had some documents open when it died. It houses all of my reference material, every scrap of illustration I’ve ever done and all of my work from the past 8 years.
Thankfully I migrated all my email, personal photos and music to my mac from the drive. At least I can get all my important documents from my mail, which is handy (when you’re taking someone to court!). But as for the rest of my digital life, I can just wave goodbye.
I still need to try some other software (disk warrior) on the drive, but it costs $80. My mac tells me it’s a FAT error (which would imply that the file table has become corrupt). Recently I’ve been guessing that the drive was getting de-fragged by the mac when it’s idle because of the data clicking away. Also the mac was set to turn the external drives off (I have two) automatically when they are redundant.
Needless to say, this is a big shit.
If I get the drive up and running again, I will burn a few DVD’s of my most important stuff - for example: my clients!
Luckily, I’m not in the middle of anything major right now. I was working on notion designs re-newal but it was only a template and I have the base image in my email.
fuck fuck fuck :/
It hasn’t really sunk in yet. If I can’t repair it or if the drive is corrupted nonsense, I will have lost years of work, image reference and documents.
