night out

11th of Aug, 2001ce* in: diary

I can’t quite remember what I’ve been doing over these past few days, I’m sure its been interesting to a degree but I imagine not enough to really lodge a thought in this cranium of mine.

Today I did have a blast on the karaoke though, went to Ordaiba (the fake Japanese island), with a few side effects I imagined the night went ok. But pissing your girlfriend off is not such a great idea, but both persons can be wrong at the same time… can’t they?

Met some whacked out Australian tourists in a deserted nightclub with matey Dave.W.
Loudness ensued and we went on to get absinthe. The Australians had never touched a drop (as its illegal in oz), my local bar agreed to serve me all the ingredients and must have thought me mad… buring sugar on their bar indeed! They approached the spectacle like weary animals inspecting a fire.

Much fun to be had, and I ended up carrying the paraletic oz guys home, as after a few rounds of absinthe - they wernt exactly set for the night.

Had a quick burn on my BMX

Took Dave on a cheap blind date, although we all had fun, I think nothing clicked for him and the girl.
Next!

bmx get!

3rd of Aug, 2001ce* in: diary

Went to buy a BMX!
I was with Okayama-san, wearing Yukatta, and me in a Jinbe. Which is sort of like wearing your pajamas down to the shops, just no-one really notices. A few heads were turned when I started riding through the middle of Shibuya district on my BMX wearing my pajamas though!

After taking my BMX home, and putting it to bed, I headed back to Shibuya for a grand departure to a fireworks display in Edo Gawa-ku (riverside).Oh My was there a lot of people!

It was like a festival!

Met up randomly outside MacDonalds with Dave, which was the most fucking odd thing to happen all week, considering about a trillion people were attending this.
We drank a few brewskies. While I sat in my pajamas.

Dear diary, its been a long time since we last spoke, but I did manage to get back to japan on the 7th of July.
So diary, wtf has been happening since we last spoke?
Went to London, that was cool. My friend Tom looked after me even though he pulled all of his neck muscles the day before!
Went to Cornwall, that was boring. My sister looked after me but complained far too much, just like brother and sister we are.
Went back to London, got my year visa for japan. Hide looked after me, we got exceedingly drunk.
Said my goodbyes to the great chaps at WCRS.

Back to Tokyo.
And I’ve been working my ass off ever since!
I hope to update the website this weekend with an all new photo section & updated meat sections.

deadlines

21st of Jun, 2001ce* in: diary

Today is Thursday, no, its Friday. Wait a minute, whats going on here?
Well - I’ve been in the office for 3 days now, I’ve had about 4 or 5 hours sleep… working on a tight deadline. I would post the work up here but as it happens the client also reads my diary, so I’ll wait a bit.

Neway, can’t come to London until next week now, :( Stuck in japan, what shall I do on my birthday now?

Sulk probably.
I wanted to be in Cornwall, but I have some friends out here - I hope they show me a good time!
I’m too tired to sleep now, all I wanna do is play quake, but its 1pm in the afternoon, why all these people in the damn office!

heavy work

14th of Jun, 2001ce* in: diary

Its evening and I’m in the bloody office working Tokyo city guide, a prototype broadband website (which will be covered in more detail in the meat section when I get the chance to update)

I’m still having fun here in Tokyo, but things are getting more serious - I have to go back to London on the 22nd to re-anew my flagging visa.
I’d say, anyone who knows me, give me a ring on the 23rd or (my birthday) the 24th.
I’ll be in England for some time, maybe even two weeks. Enough time to forget all the Japanese I’ve learnt perhaps.

yo momma

What my mum recently said in an email:

Ah! what a brilliant and terrifying invention the airplane is. The world is, as the cliche goes, a very small place. Of the millions of people on this planet, any given two of them at any given time can meet up in any given place, provided that they have both got a watch and a plane ticket. And sometimes, they don’t even know they’re going to meet.

Call me an old hippie, but I find that a bit spooky when you consider the odds.

Mind you; when you’re sitting on the plane with a numb bum and several hours of desert still to fly over, you realise that all this small world business is a load of dingoes kidneys. It’s bloody huge.

yoyogi bear

2nd of Jun, 2001ce* in: diary

The last thing one might expect to find on a Sunday evening is a bunch of illegal raves circa 1988, but thats what I got. In Yoyogi park. Met some decent liverpudlians (people from Liverpool in England) and we took some magic mushrooms together, which were not so expensive and totally legal… unlike my misspent teenage years necking ‘class A’ (10 years in prison) magic mushrooms, but then, they did grow down the road from my house once a year. As some people might know, I know some people, some people know me. The people who I know the best, did a lot of these fungi with myself in Cornwall for many years. So yeah. twas good.

The music and crowds were banging, it really was a retro feeling. Like England before big club events arrived. Although, the police shut everyone down at 10.45pm.

Yo Evisu

1st of Jun, 2001ce* in: diary

Went out with klaus and some other friend of his to a rather strange party that we were invited to but it seemed to be a company party, I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there.
Wondered on by myself to a club in a place called Evisu, the club is called Milk and is quite well known in japan… only thing is: it really did suck being by myself in this totally gaijin free environment, well I say gaijin free but I did meet an American. He said that before coming to the Milk club down here I should check the 4th floor and team up with some other people, only thing was that the 4th floor was near enough closed by the time I got there.
Then I couldn’t get back into the Milk.
So I went home.
Milk was tiny anyway, about one eighth the size of an British club. The dance floor was small enough to place into your pocket.
