Went to the Tokyo Arcade Machine Show, on an island made of rubbish.
I started the day out in Harajuku with Handsome and Klaus, we travelled quickly over to Ordaiba, got our passes and piled into the industry only show! Handsome fucked off somewhere after about 5 seconds and we didn’t find him again, which is what I half expected.
There are tons of arcade machines here, but the interesting thing was that most of them were by KONAMI! SEGA didn’t even get a look-in, which is odd, as they tend to rule the domain of the arcade.
Myself and Klaus played games and oggled show girls all day. I thought the BANPRESTO girls were best, well, check for yourself
After we got our fill of legs and bumpy bits (the girls are called companions, they are meant to help you play the games, yeah right! I was shooting the fuck out some game and the companion beside me was going nuts, she was SO HAPPY for me to KILL!), we headed off to play the less popular prize winning machines. Everything was free today, and so, the odd’s on winning something was 1/1, as we could just stand there and try and try and try. Needless to say we both came away with bags of stupid stuffed toys and sweets.
I felt some greed, which is something I havent felt since I was 8 years old, so I stopped. Anyway, my bag was full!
The day went quickly, time to go. Free entry, free games, free eye candy, all in the name of work. Great!

Woah! Sitting outside eating my dinner and an accident between a bike and car happens right before me! Went to help but the guy was just a bit shaken not hurt, no Japanese came to help I saw as I ran through traffic to offer my assistance. His bike was in a thousand pieces, he was in one. Lucky guy, could have been worse from what I saw.

This is also available as a screensaver.
It’s actually me starring here! Good project this, for capcom at the time (for automodelista remix clips), many thanks to Taro.
Back to work tomorrow, great. Had a huge argument with my girlfriend about consumerism and waste management, must have been the drink, she was like a whirlwind of personal gripes and stabs. Right, gotta find a damn supermarket this week, and not buy wasteful shit down at the local shop. But the smoking thing I won’t stop for no-one, soz :P
Had a nice time on a train that goes up a mountain, only to find the cable car which we were meant to change onto was out of action, due to the typhoon.
We made do with our immediate surroundings and enjoyed walking in the woods and taking a weird train that was angled at around 35 degrees.
Time to get a hotel, wow! they are all out of season, big rooms = low price! lucky us. We tried two large hotels which were in western style, half way up a mountain this was welcomed. One smelt like a dentists the other smelt like a school trip. We also tried a traditional style Japanese hotel, where the staff didn’t smile or welcome us, the boss asked us how much we wanted to pay and there were geisha girls sitting about the place… then it dawned on my girlfriend. This was a business mans paradise, girls on tap. We made our exit quickly (although I didn’t mind too much).
We went to the dentist smelling hotel and had a nice sleep of nightmares.
No chance of going on holiday to the desired destination (a north japan island), a typhoon has just hit Japan. We decided to go to Hakkone instead, which is a mountain.
Got to sagami ono station outside of Tokyo for the start of my little holiday adventure, only for me and my girly to find that her bike had been stolen. She was so confused looking and depressed that she just picked up the nearest bike, jumped on and pushed hard on the pedal breaking the lock clean off. All this happened in an instant, and as we hide our bikes round the back of the police station it was hysterically funny. Well, spose you had to be there.
This month, Web design note profile me and my work on; Pantone, Transport for London and Salon Boutique.
Now that the iPhone is finally hitting Japan, and I've finally upgraded to Leopard, I'm looking for a pro-active programmer to work with me on game development
one approached us to handle their Japanese localisation and filming / press.
